About This Role
As the Senior Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and success of complex projects across the organization. Reporting within the finance team, you will be responsible for project invoicing, revenue recognition, contract compliance, and financial reporting, while serving as a key liaison between Finance, Project Management, and external stakeholders.
This position combines project accounting, accounts receivable, and financial analysis responsibilities, with a strong focus on government funding programs, partner agreements, and customer contracts. You will manage project financial data within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, oversee invoicing and payment tracking, monitor project costs and revenue recognition, and support monthly reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.
This is a hybrid position and employees are expected to work in-office 2-3 days per week. The position is structured as a 12-month contract role and based in Svante's head office located in Burnaby, BC.
About the Candidate
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative accounting professional who brings a strong foundation in project accounting, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely work while building positive relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to areas such as accounts receivable, project costing, inventory accounting, revenue accounting, and financial reporting.
Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable ERP/accounting system.
A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality financial records.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Strong customer service and relationship-building skills when partnering with internal teams, project managers, funding partners, and customers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business productivity tools.
The ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a dynamic environment.
A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a willingness to take ownership of tasks and processes.
Compensation & Benefits:

This role offers a competitive base salary in the range of $80,000–$95,000 CAD. The total rewards package also includes extended health and dental benefits, paid vacation, sick leave, a health or wellness spending account and many other professional and personal development perks.
