About our client
Willems Wealth Planning Group, a leading practice of CI Assante Wealth Management Ltd., has been helping Canadian families build, manage, and preserve wealth for nearly 40 years. As a second-generation wealth management firm based in Abbotsford, BC, the team is known for delivering highly personalized retirement, tax, estate, and investment planning grounded in evidence-based financial decision-making.
The firm’s philosophy is simple: ask, listen, and solve problems. Clients are typically pre-retirees and retirees with wealth across RRSPs, TFSAs, non-registered accounts, corporations, pensions, and real estate. They come to Willems Wealth Planning Group not just for investment management, but for integrated advice that brings every part of their financial life together.
Led by an experienced team, the practice operates as an ensemble advisory model. Planning, administrative, and operations teams work collaboratively so advisors can focus on delivering exceptional advice and long-term client relationships.
A unique aspect of the firm is its nationally recognized YouTube channel, which has become a significant source of new client demand. Many clients arrive already familiar with the firm’s retirement and tax-planning philosophy, creating a steady pipeline of engaged planning clients.
About this opportunity
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced CFP® professional who enjoys deep technical planning work and meaningful client relationships.
The practice currently has a substantial (two-month) waitlist for fee-for-service financial planning engagements and is seeking another planner to help meet growing demand. This role combines:
Building and delivering customized fee-for-service financial plans, and
Supporting a select group of existing ongoing wealth-management clients.
Importantly, this is not a prospecting, sales, or business development role. You will not be expected to cold-call, build a personal book of business, or meet sales quotas. The clients and planning work already exist; the firm is looking for another capable professional to help deliver that work at a very high standard.
Working closely with the planning team, you will review client financial information, develop retirement-income and tax strategies, prepare planning recommendations, participate in client meetings, coordinate with accountants and lawyers, and help clients implement advice in a practical and understandable way.
This opportunity is based in Abbotsford, British Columbia and follows an in-office work model.
About the individual
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, technically strong financial planner who is motivated by doing excellent work for clients rather than by sales targets. At a minimum, the successful candidate will bring:
A CFP® designation;
Current investment licensing;
5+ years of relevant financial-planning experience;
Strong retirement-income and decumulation planning expertise;
The ability to analyze personal tax returns and owner-managed corporate situations;
Experience using modern financial-planning software; and
Excellent written, verbal, and virtual client communication skills.
Additional qualifications that will be a major asset include:
Experience with Snap Projections
Tax education or tax-preparation experience
CPA, CFA, CIM, TEP, or other technical designations
Professionals who tend to excel in this environment are those who notice issues proactively, take ownership, and begin developing solutions before being asked.
Who this role may appeal to
This position may be particularly attractive to an experienced planner currently working in a bank, credit union, or traditional investment firm who is seeking an alternative to:
Sales quotas and product incentives;
Limited product shelves;
Production-driven performance metrics;
Excessive client loads; or
Financial plans that are rarely implemented.
At Willems Wealth Planning Group, growth is viewed as a by-product of consistently delivering exceptional advice and service to the right clients.
Why join Willems Wealth Planning Group?
Excellent reputation in the market, built over 4 decades;
Strong inbound client demand through educational content;
Collaborative ensemble practice with experienced professionals;
Focus on planning quality rather than sales activity;
Dedicated operations support to reduce administrative burden;
Access to CI Assante Wealth Planning Group specialists in tax, estate, succession, and corporate planning; and
Opportunity to deepen expertise in retirement and tax planning within a respected advisory firm.
Compensation & Benefits
This role comes with a base salary in the range of CAD $90,000–$115,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health and dental coverage, disability and life insurance, paid vacation, paid sick days, profit sharing, learning & development opportunities, on-site parking, and a great company culture within a tight-knit team.
The final offer will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience. Talent Edge and our client believe in pay equity, fairness, and transparency.
